Any luck fishman?

Think we should call admissions?

I’m not going to. I’m in Australia so the cost of an international call is probably not worth it.
Nonetheless, if you make a call, would you be so kind as to report back what they say?

I would but everyone around me is sleeping. It’s 5am here. Email?

Why do you reckon you were rejected?
I reckon I was rejected because I need a hell of a lot of aid and Middlebury is not as need -blind as it once was for internationals.
Aside from that, my SATS were rather average. In the middle-50% for admitted freshmen but I think they probably hurt. I’ve heard international applicants have to have pretty much perfect scores and mine were far from it (CR 730 W 700 M 590 for a total of 2020). Ouch. I hadn’t taken maths in three years before the test…Killer.
Otherwise, I guess I just wasn’t good enough. My high school grades were straight As and similarly, at college I have straight As. I have heaps of ECs and lots of words, including national recognition by the Australian Government.
I read my recommendation from one of my university lecturers and it was so generic. He could have been writing about a kid with a D average. The bad thing was that at my current university, it’s incredibly huge, so getting someone who knew me was a challenge. I saw my high school recommendation which was outstanding, but you just don’t know how much one dodgy reference or a low SAT score can influence a decision.

Sorry for the delay. She did not have the email log in information. She is going to wait for the mail. So 1-2 days.

I wish you guys had better news, but I am sure you know that the stats for transfer into Midd is daunting. It all works in the end.

Nothing in the mail today.

Yeah, I’m definitely worried about other colleges. Middlebury wrote back to my email.

“We admitted 24 transfer candidates from a pool of 218 applicants.”

That’s basically what Amherst admits, and I wasn’t good enough for Middlebury.

I got in!!! I can’t be any happier!!!

juenatics–where are you transferring from?

from another (lower-ranked) liberal arts college. lol. i did explain my reasons clearly for transferring though.

That’s awesome again. Congrats! Mind sharing your stats?

High school GPA: can’t remember. but it was somewhere between weak to average; an equal mix of As and Bs; B+ average?
College GPA: ~3.8
SAT: 800, 800, 800 (i retook quite recently)
SAT II: 790 lit, 800 math lvl 2, 750 world hist
Recs: one strong, one good.
ECs: College choir. That’s really all.
Hooks: first generation? interest in classical music? ability to read/write in five languages?

Juenatics that’s amazing! Congratulations!

However I do hope that I could help balance the info from another perspective, by giving an almost completely different set of stats. (I’m in, too.)

High school GPA: around 85/100, average of the class being 74. (But I’m from one of the best high schools in the country.)
College GPA: 3.45
SAT: didn’t take
SAT II: didn’t take
Recs: good I guess
ECs: Volunteering, Chinese calligraphy (I’m Chinese.)
Hooks: First gen, top Chinese calligrapher…I guess?
Others: I guess my essays really helped since I don’t have any SAT scores, so I think showing yourself to be a good fit in Midd in the essays really tips the balance a little bit.

How about this one: D was waitlisted!!!
Anyone with transfer waitlist experience here?

Accepted and abso delighted!! Now I just need to find out how my credits will transfer?
When do we have to reply by?

How does Middlebury handle financial aid for transfers?

Congrats everyone! Now I really feel like crap. No admit and no waitlist

To the waitlisted: I’m going to turn down my place at Midd…one slot will open soon. Good luck guys. :)

To those accepted, when does Midd require you to commit on your decision to attend?
