Middlebury vs. Haverford vs. UNC

Now i think its really btw Midd and Haverford, bc I visited UNC and didn't really feel like it was my place. They offered me automatic acceptance into the journalism school there, but that's not what i want.

I heard there is a lot more partying at Middlebury vs haverford. Is this true? That might sway me more towards Haverford. How's the work load at Midd?

There’s plenty of partying at Midd (work HARD, play HARD), but you won’t feel pressure to party. There are plenty of people who don’t party. They have substance-free dorms. But don’t avoid the partying. That’s part of the college experience too. Remember, college is about pushing yourself to discover new things. From what I hear the workload at Midd is pretty brutal. I remember it being brutal when I was there too, but I didn’t seem to mind, because, while it was demanding, I was so fascinated, it didn’t feel like work.

There is a thread about Midd workload on right now…It’s hard.

The main difference between Midd and Haverford is LOCATION-urban Philly and all its assets and the quieter locale of Vermont. Depends whether you’re a granola head, environmentalist type, or an urban type.

I would say also that almost a thousand more students might make a difference. You will have a bigger class at Middlebury which might make for a more vibrant atmosphere on the campus. You have to find out how often Haverford students go in to Philly----I would guess twice a month or less but I could be wrong.

Another student who has to make a choice between two great options! Congratulations. The two schools have distinctly different personalities. One thing that may or may not be important to you depending on your feelings about such things; The male:female ratio. Haverford when combined with Bryn Mawr has a lot more girls then guys. Even back when my brother attended Haverford (still all male at that time) there was a huge connection between the two schools and it never really felt like a single sex college. Now with Haverford being co-ed it is much like Columbia/Barnard, a lot more females.

Yeah, but have you seen the the Bryn Mawr girls? … compared to Midd girls?

I’m kidding. Just making a joke. Don’t attack me.

^^ You do have a point though, LOL!
