Down to the wire, seriously can't decide..............

I figure Swat's better respected and traditionally considered better than Midd, so most are telling me to go there. It's got a hell of a lot going for it with its heralded academics, amazing campus, and proximity to Bryn Mawr and Philadelphia.

But I just feel much more at home at Middlebury, even if it's freezing and forty minutes from any signs of life. I can't really justify picking it over Swarthmore, though, so I was wondering if anyone could offer any input for either side. Thanks.

I have 0 academic interests such as in languages that would bump Middlebury.......thanks

swarthmore may be more prestigious--barely i might add--but it isn't any "better" academically than middlebury. having a friend who goes to swarthmore, and being to middlebury a few times there are a few observations i made.

if you're more geeky, you'll likely fit in better at swarthmore. middlebury is more like williams, many more students were jocks and much much more preppy. the fact that it owns its own ski mountain is a testament to it.

really consider the weather and location. I toured middlebury in april years ago when my sister was looking at colleges after she had gotten into places. there was 3 feet of snow on the ground in april--this may not be the norm. this isn't the case at swarthmore really. also, while both are in the middle of no where, an hour or so drive will get you to philly from swarth, and an hour or so drive from middlebury will get you to fields...

If you feel like you'll fit in better at Midd, go there! Swarthmore (where I'm headed next year) is a great place, but the campus culture is not for everyone and if it doesn't really appeal to you, it will be harder to be successful and happy there.

Trust your gut. Make your decisions based on YOU, not on rankings and prestige.

it isnt really as simple as geek/jock, though....im captain of the basketball team but am a skinny kid with curly hair who has read lord of the rings...id fit in at either of them

You were waitlisted at Swat, so why is this even a concern at the moment?

It isn't, i was just hoping to stir some responses
