Please compare Haverford and Middlebury!!!

My son is an athlete and has narrowed his list down to Haverford and Middlebury. He wants to major in economics or political science (cant do the Middlebury interdisciplinary econ/poly sci major because of sports interfering w/ study abroad), but is stronger in the maths and sciences than in english and the arts. As an athlete though, he wants to go to a school with the best party scene...

She has to decide by a week from Saturday, at the coach's request. Which school academically and socially would be a better fit?

There are probably other threads that cover these schools in depth. One thing to note is that Haverford is one of the smallest LAC’s (around 1400 students, I think) and Middlebury is quite a bit bigger (2400). Middlebury seems to have parties that revolve around residential houses where sports team members live. The economics department is extremely well thought of. Haverford is, of course, suburban but I would ask kids who go there if they really get into Philly much. If they don’t and most of the entertainment is on campus anyway, that difference isn’t as significant as it seems. Definitely go to both accepted students weekends and make sure he can stay overnight in a dorm with a host. That helps a lot.
