Does anyone know if Middlebury will be going to the waitlist this year? They admitted a much higher percentage of students during the RD round in an attempt to curtail the effects of coronavirus on their enrollment, but I still wonder what their admit rate from the waitlist is expected to be this year
I highly doubt it. They admitted 50% more students this year than last. However, if an insane amount of people choose not to enroll/defer then possibly.
If Middlebury planned well, then it will admit students from its waiting list this year. Although this might be hard to imagine given the number of applicants Middlebury has already accepted, the risks of over-enrollment are too great for Middlebury to not want to go to its waiting list for at least a few remaining spots in its entering class.
I can confirm that they did end up going to the waitlist. I was just taken yesterday
I also got off the waitlist yesterday!
Yes they definitely did! I also got off the waitlist
Congrats. Did they text you first or call you directly?
Midd just announced they’ve filled the class of 2024 with 750 matriculants–640 for Sep. and 110 for Feb. They were originally aiming for a class size of 705, so they’re clearing expecting that several matriculants will take a gap year or go elsewhere if admitted off waitlists. Seems like their models were pretty accurate.

Re #7, it seems Middlebury may, however, make additional offers to students on its waiting list:
How long did they give you to reply if you wanted to accept your offer?
