Midyear Report Crisis?

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I applied to a couple of universities that require midyear reports.
Thing is, my school here basically prepares us for an external exam that we take at the end of the year in May. So essentially, we only receive one "actual" grade at the end of the year, which is the grade that counts.

We also have midyear tests in December. For the subjects I was tested on, the tests were given just as if we were taking the final year-end exam (with very difficult questions on the entire course, etc.). I managed to get 1 A and 3 Cs on these midyears. Comparatively to the rest of the students at my school, these grades are excellent. However, I'm afraid that these Cs will simply cause Stanford and the ivies to simply throw my application out.

Any advice? Do I even stand a chance at Stanford, even though I have almost straight As before senior year?

If you are correct that those C’s are excellent, which seems strange, than maybe your counselor’s evaluation will explain this. Stanford is highly selective and can choose from a pile of great folks, I would said this has not helped your case, but you may not have been in the running anyway, as grades are just one part of the application.

I’d have to agree with Snowflake here. Your GC will have to explain it.

I dunno, you could look at it this way: the midterms were basically to gauge how well I would do in the final exam were I to take it at this moment. I essentially have four months to master the content to receive straight As on the final exams (which is pretty much guaranteed in my case).

I guess I’ll just have my counselor explain them I guess. Thanks for your help!
