Midyear Report? I think not! My grades are terrible :(

So I am really worried cus my grades this year are crap for several reasons (I will spare them unless you want to know). My question is: for common app wat do the midyaer reports consist of? If I apply way earlier then the deadline and if the midyear reports do not come out until after the deadline and the day I apply, do I still have to submit one?

Yes. Also, it’s important to remember that colleges can “rescind” or take back any acceptance based on a drastic downward turn of grades. Colleges will want a midyear report sent directly from your high school. Schools that offer you an acceptance will also want a copy of your final transcript to be sent to them directly from your high school.

Ohhhh no!! :(

bump

why are you bumping?

nysmile pretty much hit it on the head. that’s what you need to show.

What common app mentions does not determine whether you need to send a mid-year report. That depends on college. Many colleges, including most publics, use only grades through junior year for admission and do not require mid-year reports. Many, including most that make regular admission decisons in March/April such as most of your high ranks, do require you to submit a mid-year report after you have applied and those grades will be used in determining admission. Both of those sets of colleges require final transcripts in June and can rescind any admission given if you have done poorly senior year. In essence, if you are doing poorly this semester you face the risk of not being admitted as a result to colleges that require a mid-year report, and having admission rescinded from those that do not. There is thus no “good news” to convey to you if your grades are “crap.”
