So I've asked my counselor twice to send my Midyear report. Each time, she has told me she can only send it if she gets some "invitation" from Common App. I then ask her how to get that, and then she goes, "Oh nevermind, I just sent the report!". I wait a week or so to give time for Esther to process, go check my status, and see that it still isn't received. Cue me asking my counselor again. Same deal. I don't know if she is incompetent/lying/misunderstanding, but it's getting kind of worrisome. I know there's no official deadline for this, but I'd still like to be quick. Did anybody have any similar trouble with the Midyear report? Do you think I could just send another transcript, since it has updated with my semester grades?

You can look and see if it’s done on CommonApp. If you go under School Forms and scroll down past where it says ‘Assigned,’ it’ll say if she’s started or submitted the MYR.

Blank space next to the Midyear report…is there any way I can tell if she’s actually been assigned the report? I don’t see any option for me to send any invitation to her…

My counselor did not need to be reassigned again-- she could access the report in her account after I invited her to do the first school report-- one invitation, it seems, is all you need, and the MYR is designed to be completed by the same person, so you won’t be able to invite her again, I don’t think. But if there’s a blank space, it is true that she has not begun yet.

Edit to add: In the section above that, where it describes the date assigned (for teacher reports and school reports), make sure that she was assigned.

It’s weird, for the teacher recommendation it still says when it was assigned and then downloaded, but for the counselor one it only shows when it was downloaded. Above the section for my counselor, though, it says I “invited” her, presumably for the school report, back in October. I’m just generally kind of confused. And pretty sure she’s been lying to me, if she told me she’s done it but it says nothing on CommonApp. Only, I have no idea how to talk to her about it again without bringing it up… :/

Recognize that you have done what you can do. The rest is out of your hands, as admissions knows. If she does not submit it and Rice is heavily considering you, they will likely contact her directly for the information.

And regarding sending an updated transcript, that’s exactly what the midyear report is, however your counselor will have to be the one to send it.

As a student I am able to order and personally mail a transcript (the return address is the high school). So I guess I should do that? I’m wondering if maybe emailing Rice and asking would be a good idea, too.
