can anybody please tell me what the role of the midyear report is? for example, say i have a 4.5 gpa and is ranked in the top 5% at the beginning of the year. but i slip up and my midyear report shows a 4.4 gpa and only top 7% at the end of first semester. when the adcoms decide on your admissions, will they decide on you based on your gpa/class rank at the beginning of the year or what it appears on the midyear report?

The role of a mid-year report is essentially so that seniors do not stop working just because they have turned in their applications. Some colleges will even revoke admission if students are getting really bad grades mid-term (showing they don't really care about the work, only getting into college). That being said, a 4.5 to a 4.4 GPA is nothing to worry about on your report. This kind of fluctuation is very minor.

well said.^^

ull b fine.
