Midyear reports for UChicago

When will the form be available on Uncommon App? or has it already been posted and I just can't find it?

jan 22 i believe it comes up
i think we self-report our midyear report grades

i have a question too,
if our grades are inexplicably lower than usual from 2nd quarter, can we send in a statement explaining ourselves?

There will be a text area for you to include additional information when you submit your mid-years. If your grades are only a little lower, you might be better served by using the space to mention positive things - academic or althetic successes since you applied, your partication in a play, etc.

If there was a sharp drop in your grades that may be explained by something clearly outside your control (e.g., sickness, divorce, homelessness (it happens)), you could mention that, and possibly have your GC follow up.

I'm wondering what would be considered a sharp drop in grades. Because before this year I had a 3.96 GPA but first term this year I got a 3.6 and second term I got a 3.7. Would that be considered a substantial drop in grades?

I don't think so; sharp would be more like a full letter grade.

on the Uncommon blog it says "We only want final grades for your first term, not provisional grades, not exam grades, not advisory grades." Don't all the other colleges want first semester exam grades? I find this whole thing pretty bizarre

I suspect that they're not doing this just so that you can express enthusiasm, as they try to play up in the blog, but b/c it's easier to process if the info is entered online

First term in this context means semester grades, if that's what your school gives out. Some places are on the quarter system. They DON'T want the nine-week grades, if you're on a semester system.
