Milton

Hi guys, I was just wondering, is Milton a school that is comparable to the HADES schools? I know that HADES is just an acronym for what some consider the top 5 schools, but is Milton actually comparable to a school like Andover or Deerfield? Any Milton alum out there who could help?
Thanks :D

I think Milton is as good as HEADS. But because of its 50% day population, it is not usually in line with them.

I don’t believe Milton has the breadth of offerings in math & science that some of the HADES schools are known for.

I read on a website called prep review that they are ranked 4th tied with Groton, ahead of Deerfield and Choate, but Andover and Exeter were tied for first. If I’m more of a history or english person, would a school thats not as math oriented as Exeter be better. A school such as Milton?

They are all at the same level, just a matter of what you are looking for. Milton’s art and music programs are hard to beat. 9 or 10 Jazz bands? unheard of at other schools. It was my son’s top choice because he liked the robotic and the jazz programs there, but he didn’t get in. :(

that stinks :frowning: it looks like a great school…did he apply to any others?

Milton’s a great school, one of the top schools in the country. Some people on these boards want to slice and dice and rank, but that just leads to trouble (and by the way, Exeter is not math oriented per se, it just happens to have an awesome math team and is a great place for kids who can handle very advanced math—that doesn’t mean it’s problematic for kids whose main interest is in the humanities).

Thanks lemonade1  I’m not that great at math and I was thinking that since there is such a great math team that people who weren’t very interested in math wouldn’t do to well there.

zdoub99: not get in was not the worst part, the worst part was after March 10, we traveled to Italy; on the way back on the plane, we sat next to a group of Milton students, who apparently were in a music band, just came back from an oversea trip. My son looked awful during the whole flight, I knew how much he wanted to be one of them. I wrote Milton a touching letter afterwards since my son was on the waiting list, and it didn’t work. :)

FayMom: That must’ve been horrible! I’m sure he went somewhere just as amazing :D
