Mini-? on creative writing

Actually, Iowa as the tops creative writing program is probably one of the few rankings that won't get much serious argument. But that is for graduate -- MFA in writing. Does not translate directly to the place to go for college.

For those passionate about writing, check out the College of Creative Studies at UCSB. It is for students who know what they want to do early on and they are treated as "graduate students" if accepted into this program.

Since my son was interested in the music composition program, we visited SB and he applied and was accepted into the program. (It is a double application process to UCSB & CCS.) In the end he chose to go elsewhere because he couldn't see himself just composing. But if he could have, it would have been a great program. It would have been like attending a tiny college in the sea of a large one & right on the sea.
