Hi guys. My final exams are about to begin and I am pretty tensed. I am most lilely going to end up with this:
2As, 1B and 2Cs.
The As are in Math and Computer Science. The B is in English. The Cs are in Physics and Chemistry.
I am applying for Computer Science. I want to know if such grades can rescind me at:
UCLA, UCSD, CMU, UCB, UWash Seattle, UMich Ann Arbor, Cornell, GTech and UIUC. I have been accepted only at UIUC yet but I wanted to know as I am very tense right now. I most likley will not get into most of these schools but I want to prepare for the case of getting rescinded in case I am lucky and I get into some of these schools. Please help. Thanks!

Depends on the school, but UCs commonly have conditions of admission that you get at least a 3.0 GPA in your previously reported senior year courses, with no D or F grades. But even within the UCs, there may be differences, and other schools can certainly be different. Check the conditions attached to your admission letter (may be on-line).

My school doesn’t calculate a GPA. What would be the policy for me then?

What your high school does or does not calculate does not matter. When you send your final high school transcript to the college you matriculate to, that college will calculate your senior year GPA if it uses that to determine whether you meet the conditions of admission. You should be able to calculate your GPA from whatever combination of grades you get or expect to get.

Start seeing the teachers after class and try to pick up your science grades a bit.

Two years ago my nephew received a C his senior year and Columbia asked him to write a letter explaining why. In the letter he took responsibility for his lack of effort and promised it wouldn’t happen again. He was accepted and is a Junior now.

@ucbalumnus - This turns out to be a GPA of 3.0, right? So will that get me rescinded?
@happy1 - The teachers cannot really do anything here as it all depends on my performance on the final exam.
@KathleenA - one C required an explanation? Quite strict, I must say.

Which of the above mentioned schools is the strictest in terms of rescind policy? And will my grades get me rescinded at that school or those schools? Thank you, all.

Ruh: you’re asking the wrong people. And the people who know the answers (the college administrators) likely won’t tell you a straight answer as they want to keep all their options open (i.e. can you if they feel like it). Begin the dialogue with UIUC and hope for the best and study your butt off. None of us REALLY knows what will happen.

@T26E4 - Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I’m working as hard as possible.

What is the worst case you’ve heard of a person getting resinded? As in, you thought that the university was strict in rescinding an admission. And the best case? As in, you thought that the university was lenient in not rescinding the admission?

And is rescinding an automated process? As in, when I send in my final transcript, will a computer calculate the GPA and tell me that I am rescinded or will an admission officer have a look at it and ask me for an explanation? Thanks :D
