Minnesota VS Georgia Tech Chemical Engineering

I have been accepted into the chemical engineering program at Georgia Tech as an undergraduate as well as at University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

I have researched a lot about these programs, but I would like to see what anyone has to say about the programs at these schools or if anyone could offer some advice for picking the right one! I believe financially they will end up about the same due to scholarships, so that’s the only factor that is not playing much of a role right now! Thanks for your help!

UMN-TC has one of the top ChemE program in the country. It also has a rather low oos tuition rate.

Ditto what Billscho said. GaTech is a great engineering school overall. Minnesota’s ChE Department is excellent. So no substantial difference. Choose based on feel.

You are OOS for both and you got scholarships at both? Define the math?

I have OOS tuition being paid for both as a merit scholarship.

Both are excellent ChE schools. GT has better overall engineering program IMHO. Have you visited both schools?

You know the drastic climate difference between the two schools, right?

I would disagree that GT has a better overall engineering program and that there is no substantial difference in picking b/t these two programs for ChE. Nevertheless, either school could give you a good education with many opportunities.

UM-TC has just completed an addition to their ChE/MatS (aka, CEMS) building with new labs and the latest in equipment. The “new” university president is a graduate of their program. You can be assured they know of it’s stellar international reputation and have made the commitment and investments to keep it that way for decades to come.
