Minor for Finance major

I am majoring in Finance and have room for a minor. I originally wanted to major in math and go into operations research analysis, but I’ve decided to pursue financial analysis instead.

I would either like to major in Mathematics or Political Science. I am not sure which would be more useful for me or in general.

I’m also open to other options as well.
Thank you!

Mathematics and Statistic, Economics, or Accounting??

A math minor for Finance is ideal in my mind

If your school offers an information system minor like Big Data, you should do it because according to recruiters, they look for students with experience in that kind of expertise.

Accounting or Statistics are the most useful for financial analysis. Political science doesn’t have much use as a major (beyond law school), much less a minor and is totally incongruous with finance.

Both math and political science can be useful depending on your professional path. Math is a good combination for pursuing quant-shop jobs. Math also comes in handy if you want to do graduate work. Political science is an interesting subject and can be useful for top-down investors and macro hedge fund professionals.

In many universities, minor has to be something outside of the business school if your major is finance within a business school. If not, accounting is often the most frequent minor (or a second major).
