Minor in BSAD? Need everyone's help pleasee

Hey everyone, I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Vermont. My major is Political Science and I still do not know what I should minor in....history or business administration? I want to get my MBA after college (well work a few years after getting my BA and then go for my MBA). But I'm really confused about what I should minor in. The reason im majoring in political science is because its a subject that does interest me, is easy enough for a good GPA because poli sci classes aren't that challenging for me personally so that way I can mantain a good enough gpa and hope for a good GMAT score....but im really thinking alot about what it would mean for business schools for when they look at my major too? i know you can major in any field and go for an MBA , but is it that safe of a bet to major in poli sci and still be the on the good side? i know you need a good gpa, gmat score, work experience, and leadership but im just still thinking about my major and whether thats fine to go ahead with. with that said, if its alright to major in poli sci would it make much of a difference if i minor in bsad or history? i was thinking then that i can back up my business background with a minor in bsad...is it worth it? or should I just take like a few business courses such as calculus or stats? what do you guys think?

btw, im interested in the marketing field and the reason i didnt major in bsad was because I transferred and wouldnt have been able to graduate in less than the usual 4 years for a BA.

Thanks so much!

Two things:

1) Poly Sci is easy for everyone and should be a 3 year degree.
2) Minors are silly.

That may be harsh, but it's true, and the sooner you realize this the sooner you will understand the rest of my advice.

Poly Sci may be interesting, but I personally think it should be a hobby. Still, if you like it the degree itself shouldn't hurt nor help you in applying for MBA school. However, it definitly won't help you land a job; a must for getting into an MBA program. Additionally, higher maths prereqs are required for many MBA programs (if not all), stats isn't so much required but it wouldn't hurt to know a thing or two about it before entering an MBA program or even the work environment.

With that said, I wouldn't bother with a minor. If anything I would double major in something else that interests you, like history. Other majors that shouldn't be difficult to add in a couple of years that could be beneficial would be psychology or some sort of graphic design (excellent for marketing/advertising). Also, take a stats course and if possible a Calc course, even if it's a Calc or Stats for dummies before entering an MBA program (even if it is after you get your BA/BS, at night), it will greatly help you.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the only reason im doing poli sci is b/c of its easiness and for personal interest. i would have done bsad from the begginning but from what I've heard, its actually a tough major and hard to maintain a good gpa in. as far as MBA goes, its open to all majors so thats fine. I just signed up for a stats course for next semester and will later on do calculus. Do you know where I can find out more info in regards to the higher math prerequisites? And as far as my minor, im leaning towards history. Since im in NY, i just hope that considered what ill be studying in college, i can hopefully build up my work experience and do some internships in the business field...

Hey I looked around for some minors at my school and am leaning towards two now:
Consumer and Advertising or Community Entrepreneurship. I think CE would be really useful b/c we as students can get an oppurtunity get a chance outside the classroom to see hands-on how business around the town work. Hopefully I can add some of these to my resume. I've provided a few links to let you know a little more on it. (btw I didnt know how to edit my previous post...)
Consumer and Advertising : Undergraduate: Majors and Minors : Community Development and Applied Economics : University of Vermont
Community Entrepreneurship : University of Vermont

1) GPA isn't as important for graduate business school as it is for Law/Medical school.
2) Major is unimportant
3) Minor is really unimportant
4) Experiences outside of the classroom will look great when you are applying to jobs, so kudos to that. However, hopefully by the time you apply to graduate business school you will have filled your resume with plenty of post-graduate experiences that you can remove those pre-grad experiences from your resume.
