I just applied ED to Duke and noticed what I think is a small typo in one of my two 250 word supplemental essays. My sentence is supposed to read “giving me the opportunity to make something unfamiliar a little more… well, familiar” but when I open the PDF that shows how my supplements will look to the admissions officers it reads “giving me the opportunity to make something unfamiliar a little more. well, familiar”. How big of a problem is this?
It’s a huge problem and will be the reason you are rejected.
In all seriousness, it is no big deal. The Common App sucks in terms of formatting, and every single AO is aware. S/he will likely not even notice, since it took me a few seconds, and that was only because you pointed it out.
Okay cool, thanks for the reply
wait I have the EXACT same problem where an ellipses was changed to a period on the Common App. I was so confident it was typo proof when I pasted it in… maybe Common App messed up?
If you have the same issue then I bet it’s a Common App thing, which means it’s probably a nonissue.
