Hey! I'm wondering if being a Puerto Rican (born and raised) somehow increases my chances for being admitted into Wharton as a minority. Anyone knows?

Is this a joke?

no. why? something wrong? something bothering YOU?

@chamii, I don’t think that idontjoke has a proble with you being hispanic. coming from me, a fellow hispanic, that is a stupid question. Yes being a URM, specifically hispanic, helps A LOT, not just at Penn, but anywhere. You still have to be smart, but it separates you from other applicants. Being a minority is going to help you anywhere you apply to.

thanks and believe me its not like i didn’t knew at all! i’ve always known this, that being hispanic separates you from the ‘crowd’ but i wanted to make sure that Penn was really serious about URM, 'cause there is always a possibility for everything, like not taking URM into consideration.

maybe its my fault for not explaining myself the right way starting the thread because the question actually meant more than idonjoke thought

Out of curiosity does one race of Hispanic have more Weight? Cause I’m puerto rican, Venezuelan and Colombian but I think you can only mark one soo…

also, in some places being puerto rican is something separated from being hispanic (college admissions included).
