How many minors can you have at UVA?

[Declare a Minor — Undergraduate, College of Arts & Sciences, U.Va.](http://artsandsciences.virginia.edu/college/major/declare_minor.html) - Students may not declare two minors, but they may declare two majors and a minor.

Tigertony,
You might want to wait until you have dived head first into your engineering major before trying to also fulfill minor(s)! Engineering is very rigorous here and will take most of your time. You are left with few electives as an engineer, rarely ever enough to double major, occasionally enough to minor, but the workload is so intense that you may want electives just for electives!!

Thanks hazelorb, I have no idea what I need to complete my major, I just registered for classes (not a pleasant experience), and I’m still not sure that Engineering is what I want to do. It really stresses me out a lot. I don’t know if it helps that I have transfer credits from Dual Enrollment that take care of my HSS (humanities I think) and unrestricted electives. People tell me that some change their major 3 times before getting it right, how is that even possible?

I know a girl who changed in her 3rd year… Twice. Unfortunately engineering students don’t have that luxury.

I know many students who transferred out of SEAS after their first year. I work with all of the first years in CS101 so it’s usually not a surprise when someone tells me they’re CLAS-bound. Everything from environmental science to math to politics (2 of those I know!!). Just take your first year and if you want to switch you can do it after that. You’ll have your CLAS science requirements done at least! At least you’re not trying to go CLAS to SEAS, that adds a year on to your graduation time!! Also, I know the majority of students who, even with a rough first year, stay in SEAS and end up doing just fine (or graduating at least, bemoaning or not). You’ll figure out what is right for you.

Students in the COLLEGE are limited to one minor. Engineering kids don’t really have restrictions like that, so you can have as many minors as you want, but because of the college rule you can have only one that’s actually offered by the college.
