Miracle products

I have been using Olaplex for a couple of years. While expensive, I use less of this shampoo that other salon shampoo, so it last a long time. I do switch up my shampoo every so often as my hair get cranky when I use the same one all the time! When I get color or haircut, I have them use the Kerastase.

I tried Wen also and when I heard claims against them I got rid of it- you’re probably right though about people having different sensitivities. I’m glad the product works for you. I also have a lot of hair but I’m always worried about losing it:(

Many hair products work well until they “fix” the problem. Some hair loves protein and some loves moisture. Your hair will look great while it’s getting what it’s lacking. However, you can overload on either and then have to get your hair back in balance. I’ve learned that I need to rotate my products to maintain the correct moisture/protein balance to keep my hair from getting either “gummy” (for me too much moisture) or fragile (for me too much protein). Either one can lead to hair loss if taken to the extreme. What your hair needs/tolerates is usually determined by the cuticle and how much moisture can penetrate the hair shaft. I don’t think there is an exact science. Just trial and error and close monitoring.

I had an emergency, packed in a hurry and forgot my usual shampoo. Which is just Paul Mitchell for color treated hair.

My mil had Pantene shampoo, I used it for 3 days. Completely ruined my hair. My highlights turned orange, my hair was coarse and frizzy.

My stylist told me that Pantene works for some people but the ph level is really high.

I wear my hair short, she cut most of my damage out. But now the color is great and my hair feels back to normal.

Strange how much shampoo can change the texture of your hair.

Hmmm, H and I use Pantene. It seems to work ok for us—we don’t have treated hair but it doesn’t frizz anything.

Just ordered the pet hair removal thing. Thanks for the tip!

I’m glad you posted that you bought one. I missed the tip on it earlier in this thread so now I added one to my shopping cart, too!

Some don’t think the pet hair thing works that well, but I think it ‘pushes’ the hair into the lint trap. I find I have to really wipe off the washing machine door (front loader) and around the rubber seals, which to me is a GOOD thing as there is a lot of hair on them and thus not still on the clothes/blankets (dog blankets).

And cheap, so worth a try.

I love the pet “thing”!!! If you have a pet that sheds and you’re unsure if it’s working just roll it on a small section of rug or carpet and you’ll be convinced it works!!!

I take ours on vacation with us when we rent pet friendly Airbnb’s.

Didn’t people have a hair catcher for the shower that they loved? I was hoping it was here, but just re-read the thread and searched and came up blank. Does anyone remember this?

I have this one. It works well
but don’t have it on the drain until you actually get in the shower
and some of the water is dispersed. I found that otherwise, the floor of my shower stall fills with water
.but once I get in
it’s fine.

Not exactly a miracle product, but I like this one because it is flat.

I’ve been happy with this one; I like it because it’s a dome.

Just curious
why do you prefer a dome. I found that the domed ones I kept kicking off.

For my shower, I’ve been using the same one for years. In my tub shower with a pop up stopper, I use this https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Silicone-Protector-Pop-Up-Regular/dp/B00OCEBMFM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=OR629AV9TQWE&keywords=dome%2Bhair%2Bcatcher&qid=1677444976&s=hi&sprefix=dome%2Bhair%2Bcatche%2Ctools%2C153&sr=1-5&th=1

We have this one in two tubs: Tub Shroom

I really like that I can’t see all the hair until I take it out of the drain. I wash my hair twice a week and clean this catcher once a week. I should say it fits just like the photo from the listing in our old 1960’s cast iron tub, but doesn’t fit as well in a new tub in the renovated bathroom. So I’d advise not to choose this model if your drain is short.

Because we have a pop up drain that can’t take a flat catcher. It has suction cups around the rim to keep it in place.

I’m a fan of this little tub and sink drain cleaner.

Yes to these! I have found them to be quite helpful when cleaning out sink or if sink is slowly draining.

Even younger S (17) asked me for one for his bathroom bc he had seen me use it previously.

For the times when even a snakes doesn’t work:

We had to call a plumber one time for a really slow drain (I won’t use Drano since it’s apparently really bad for our old pipes). He literally brought a bottle of this, used it, and charged us a couple hundred of bucks. He said that doesn’t corrode pipes like Drano does. Now we use it all the time whenever our sinks and shower drain get clogged with hair. (You can’t use it for toilets.)

Also, it does emit some seriously caustic fumes, though, so I open the window, run the fan, hold my breath while I’m activating it with hot water, and then run out of the bathroom and close the door behind me.

That is the one my D uses. I just saw her use it for the first time last week, was amazing!
