MIS career path

Hi,

I am currently a rising junior and I am an MIS major. I attend a state school (University of Memphis) and I had a few questions I was hoping could get answered.

My GPA is a 3.8/4.0 cumulative and 4.0 Major GPA.

What is the typical Entry Level job that MIS majors look for? Do they usually go straight to Business Analyst positions? How is the job market currently? With predictions that job losses will be reversed next year will the market gain the steam it had before the meltdown?

How marketable are these degrees? Would a Computer Science minor be something that could make me more marketable?

Thanks for the help.

With that type of GPA, you should be very marketable. CS classes could definitely be useful (depending on what you want to do) but could potentially hurt your GPA.

There are entry level positions for practically every area of IT. Some grads go the business analyst route, others take a more technical route, others go into consulting, others go into project management, etc.
