Miscellaneous Life Ramblings

That’s right, @SevenDad! I forgot where the endorsement came from when I added it to my “movies to watch” list. Consider it a confirmation of your recommendation.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I love having @SevenDad curate my entertainment! Spares me so many mis-steps!

The latest installment in “SevenDad tries to keep up with that the kids are into these days”: the single “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd (Ear Drummers backwards).

Catchy!

Here’s my contribution to songs you can listen that will make your kids think you’re not an OF.

Thanks for the recco Dos!

Cool sound. I love that the wiki entry for them includes this description for the song “Drinkee”: sung sensually amidst cowbells, bongos, electric guitars and deep driving bass.

We have the reverse situation here in our house. My kid’s playlist of the moment includes LOTS of 80’s (and older) music. We are having fun re-visiting old favorites… I mean, how long has it been since you listened to Toto?

“I mean, how long has it been since you listened to Toto?”
Never?

College Kid was cooking dinner the other night listening to a lot of Bowie followed by Queen (nice Under Pressure segue between the two). I was cool with that.

Good luck with that.

It’s all relative.

Queen is LondonKid’s absolute favorite at the minute. Fortunately, we all love them so all is well.

CameoKid has been playing a lot of Sinatra, Elvis, and Ed Sheeran during break.

DS has been on a big Rolling Stones / Led Zeppelin kick recently - YES! I’ve done something right…

I hope it’s not Queen + Adam Lambert

Freddie Mercury must be spinning in his grave. (OK, he was cremated and nobody knows where his ashes are, but still…)

Mine is somehow listening to dubstep. Can I borrow one of your 80s kids?

There’s no replacing Freddie. Ever.

@dos: Shared the Sofi Tukker videos with wife and 7D2 and they really liked them…I was like “See, I do get something out of spending time on the CC forum!”

Speaking of Freddie (and Bowie)…“Under Pressure” has got to be one of my favorite duos of all time. There’s that isolated vocal track floating around the internet that basically puts 99% of today’s pop stars to shame.

Then there’s this:

If you keep your eyes open, you can see David Bowie among the onlookers (Bowie also performed at the Freddy Mercury tribute concert…with doing “Under Pressure” with Annie Lennox).

Oh, if any kids reading this are like “Who is Freddie Mercury?” and/or only know Bowie from “Labyrinth”, this is a good example of how amazing they both were:

Happy New Year all!

@skieurope Nope. Only the originals… whew!

This might be my favorite (if pressed hard to choose only one):

I find myself unable to sit still during that one, and it is fabulous played loudly in the car! I do have to admit that (thanks for the reminder @sevendad) “Under Pressure” is also excellent.

I told you I had trouble picking one!

IMO, nothing compares to:

While we’re on the subject of Queen, I’ve always said that the one concert that I wish I had been around to see was Live Aid, which bring me to:

From part of my post on music thread elsewhere on CC:

Take a listen to Rubblebucket: Here’s one of their older songs that is a favorite. Very, very fun group to see live. They’re based out of Brooklyn and touring in the Northeast over the next month or so.

Rag N Bone Man has had huge success in Europe and the UK this year but little traction in the USA. Recently won the Brit’s Critics Choice Award. Definitely someone to listen to and keep an eye on.
