Miserable scores

My AP US history exam score (from sopho year) is TERRIBLE.

It's a 3 (for some reason, no one in our school got a 5 that year; 4 students had 4's, and all the rest (around 200 or so) got 3/2, with the exception of 2, who both got 1's).

Should I stick it on the exam reports?

I'm afraid the colleges will get suspicious if I don't.
But I'm also afraid they're going to hate me after seeing it. >_>

Advice?

(Thanks in advance)

lmfao @ 3 being horrible

Honestly, from every account I've heard, schools hardly care about AP scores. I mean, if you were planning to major in US History, it'd hurt, yeah. But otherwise, just stick it in -- it'll show you're human, which your other scores obviously don't show. ;]

Ahh~ I see! Thank you!

Also, should I stick my English Lit&Comp in there too? Last year I took IB World Lit and took the AP test (just for kicks) and got a 3.
Is that bad?

Should I put it in, or leave that one out? (It's a 3, after all...)

Shhh, put it in. Your 800 CR and whatever you get on Lit will demonstrate that you're wayyy above-par in English-y skills... plus Eng. is your second language, right? Yeahhh you're fine. (Wow, I spend so much time on this site that I know these things. That's really creepy.)

Put it in! I'm putting my 3 in AP Physics B.
And fyi, I am extremely proud of my mark :)

Ahh...I see.

So colleges won't think I'm an idiot after getting a good CR SAT and failing the AP lit for no reason, while most people got 4's n 5's? (I wasn't sick OR dying OR losing an arm...)

-> mrclassicfreak: haha XD AP physics is pretty hard!! I had to cram so hard for my AP C to get a 4... barely... XD

I think it'll look fineee. Just show them everything. I mean, they'll see all of the scores when CB sends them, and they might be like, "Hmmm, why didn't she show us this?!"

Really, anything 3+ is good. 5s are just outstanding (and 4s in some subjects.) IMO at least.

Oh WAIT WAIT.

CB will send them EVERYTHING?

Heck, then what's the point of hiding any of my scores? lol
I might as well just post up all of them, then. Huh.

I might be wrong...

Some schools may only ask for CB's report AFTER you're admitted, in order to award you credits.

I'm not sure -- someone else should address this.

i'm not sure but i think you can ask collegeboard to withhold certain ap scores....dont remember where i heard that.....either way a 3 is good....i'm putting down my 3 in chem cuz i'm proud of it considering i was one of the first 3 people to pass it in my SCHOOL, lol, yeah i know thats sad but everyone got 1's (and one 2) the year before me....so yeah a 3 won't hurt you

also i have a 5 in APUSH to "make up" for it, (hah i have a score higher than ivychan omg i'm so proud of myself, even though you own me in everything else lol :) )

^^^ Nah, AP scores are all self-reported on apps. Official reports don't need to be sent until next spring/summer, after you've matriculated.

SO--S got a 2 on US History (had not taken AP as school does not offer it) but tried anyway and a 3 on English (should not have taken as is NOW in AP English class so should take it this spring --can he retake?). Can he put the 3 but NOT the 2 on the Common App? Thanks

i got a 2 in physics u dont see me complaining.

Oregon-- Yes, he can retake it, and yes, he can report the 3 but not the 2. (Though, adcoms can infer that he scored poorly if he doesn't report them.)

Have you all taken a look at your HS transcript? Some HS report AP test scores on the transcript itself. So, leaving something off the Common Application or, worse, listing a different score is probably not the best plan.

good point and will check--bet it is on HS transcript. thanks!

Just called the school and "AP scores are not allowed to be sent on the transcript".

concretejungle-why would they figure that a student did not do well if they did not report and AP score if there was no AP class on the transcript? It was my bright idea that he try the AP history even though the school does not have an AP history class....

^ Oops, didn't read that he self-studied. Don't report the 2 then.
