They told me that I could major in education. Got there, and it turns out that they barely offer any education courses at all. I tried asking around and all any of the staff would tell me was ‘don’t worry about it’ which was disconcerting to say the least. I withdrew immediately.

Yes, you were sorely misinformed. Bennington does not have any majors at all. I would think just perusing their website would tell you that.

Actually, Benn does offer an education program–

“In the accelerated BA/MAT program, you take teaching seminars alongside your studies in other areas. Graduates of the program earn a MAT degree and certification to teach in Vermont. Reciprocity exists for all states except Iowa and Minnesota; however, the specific requirements of each state must be met before licensure can be earned.”

So, while, as danceclass said, there are no majors at Benn, one can come out with an MAT and be certified to teach in most states. I find it hard to believe that anyone misled about the fact that there are no majors at Benn, it’s sort of the point of the place, not sure how that could be missed. My daughter was accepted there, it ended up her second choice, but she really liked it. We found the admissions people we dealt with to be very honest and helpful.
