Missed a CAL conditions of admission by...

I just got my final grades:

Stats 4 units "C"
Bio3 4 units "B"
Hist 20 3 units "A"
ASL 1 4 units "B"

GPA: 2.993

I need a 3.0 this semester in order to go to CAL. I am in shock. I am so depressed right now. Bye bye all my plans!!! ) :

maybe enroll in a summer class real quick to bring up the GPA? not sure if it works like that, though…

My overall GPA is above a 3.0…my semester GPA is a 2.93…that is the problem. ty though. im just so beaten up about this. ive been crying for an hour straight…

Stop crying and call admissions and let them know your situation asap. Ask if there’s anything you can do.

Edit: that came off kind of mean, sorry.
I’d probably do the same thing.

think I didnt do that? that was the first thing I did. In fact, I thought “eh…so close, they wont care” and guess what my advisor replied back with, “I regret to inform you that do to the new information provided to us in regards to your Spring semester grades your application in now jeopardy, and unless the condition of admission can be completed, we would have to rescind your admission to UC Berkeley.”

)…;

Doesn’t a 2.993 round up to a 3.0? lol

no…gpa’s dont work like that…

beg one of your professors or beg Cal to let you keep your admission. .007 is very very small.

Go call them NOW you lazy bum. If they rescind you, I’ll eat my hat.

I’m in a similar situation.

You need to go beg one or all of those professors for a grade change. Though, I wouldn’t expect any drastic changes unless you’re borderline… :</p>

I already tried to beg my prof but she refused. I have contacted both UCLA and Cal to let them know that I received a D in one of my classes.

Compell one of your professors at your JC to bring up your grade. They gotta understand…This is a horrible story…im sry :(

All three of my teachers in the lower grades said my grade was no even close to the next grade up and said they could warrant a grade change. I just have to accept Im not going to school next year. Time to make new plans i guess…

did you just have bad transferitis or something? :/

no i had hard classes. Unlike some of you on this board i find school at my community college difficult. i know a UC was going to be harder but I was willing to step up to the challenge. This semester was very difficult for me…i am bad at math. I am actually proud of that “C”, but my ASL class…i have no excuse, i must have just done poorly on the final. I guess I just did not manage my time at the end well and I spent to much time on my math final, and not enough on my other classes. It was my fault, but I am still hurt…I have no idea what to do next. Thank you all for listening to me complain!

hi. sorry to hear about your situation. what does your conditions of admission actually say? does it say your semester gpa has to be at least 3.0? or is it similar to what i pasted below?

here’s what mine says so i’m just curious…
“3. You must complete all UC-transferable courses in the** Winter and/or Spring 2010 terms with a 3.0 or higher GPA and no grade lower than a C.** Immediately contact your Admissions Officer if you will not be able to meet this condition.”

if your overall gpa is still 3+, then shouldn’t you be ok?

goodluck!

I talked to my admissions officer to clarify the language. While my overall GPA is at a 3.21 (all semesters GPA), my admissions of condition has required that each individual semester has to be at least a 3.0 with no grade lower than a C. So…yeah.

@ paniikd

is it too much to ask if you could copy/paste? also, what’s your major? thanks!

fux :(

sorry to hear this news.

what are you going to do?
