Hi everyone,
I found out about Carnegie Mellon University a little too late, and it turns out I’ve missed the deadline. Is there any chance they will accept my application late??
Hi everyone,
I found out about Carnegie Mellon University a little too late, and it turns out I’ve missed the deadline. Is there any chance they will accept my application late??
Send in ASAP, and hope for the best. They like more applications, and usually give some grace time.
Same here. I actually emailed them this morning. I’d say you’ll be fine
I submitted all my applications late and all the colleges accepted. I applied to princeton yesterday 4 days after the deadline, Harvard 2 days after etc
Lamixlove posted recently:
"I scored poorly on my sat and subject tests
SAT: 1040
Math Level 2: 490
Chemistry: 440
I just found out today that some top colleges accept the February ACT. Phew. But for those that don’t including Caltech and MIT should I send my ACT score for my midyear report."
Lamixlove I don’t think you should be posting with an authoritative voice about Caltech, MIT, Princeton, Harvard, etc. your story has holes in it. You are not a viable candidate with those scores which casts doubt on your authenticity.
Even taking you at your word, submitting them is one thing, the school’s accepting them is another. If you emailed them this morning (Sunday) you have no idea if they will actually be reviewed.
There are stressed out students who are seeking legitimate advice. Please be thoughtful.
I apologise
I apologise if I came across as inconsiderate towards the other candidates and the schools themselves. I didn’t mean to. I was just trying to reassure the author of the thread
I’m really passionate about what I do and I refuse to think thoughts that are not aligned with my goals. Yes I scored poorly on the standardised tests. I am human. Standardised tests do not make up a whole application. Standardised tests are used to predict academic success. I know I can be academically prepared to attend these schools. Even though I’m unable to take the SAT or the ACT (financial situation may prevent me from doing so) in time for admissions I’m preparing each and every day so that I can be prepared. Scoring poorly on those tests told me to be prepared for whatever may come my way.
I’m grateful for even the opportunity to even sit the ACT in the first place, the ACT is no longer available in my country. In fact I’m even grateful to be in my current situation. Others would kill to be in my position. Not everyone gets the opportunity to even apply to those schools. I’m the first one in my family.
I understand that deadlines are imposed for a reason. I missed the deadlines and that was a fault on my part. I accept full responsibility.
I apologise to the colleges and admission officers. I do not mean to take their work for granted. I am extremely thankful that they accepted my application. After all admission officers are human too.
I suppose I should take that post down. It doesn’t reflect me well.
Nocreativity1: The only college I emailed was Carnegie Mellon. Sorry for the mixed message.
I didn’t mean to say anything with an authoritative tone. I was just trying to be reassuring.
Sorry once again. I truly am
No problem. Have Harvard and Princeton confirmed they will review your application in spite of its tardiness?
Also with no lack of respect intended your statement is correct. “Standardised tests do not make up a whole application. Standardised tests are used to predict academic success”. Unfortunately I believe your 1090 SAT score (and 440/4090 subject tests) will eliminate your chances at top 50s much less Harvard, Caltech, MIT and Princeton. You would not be able to thrive academically at these schools.
Do you have a back up plan and safe schools?
OP what happened with Carnegie Mellon? Good luck.
I don’t think you did anything wrong. You just shared your experience and probably comforted the OP that others are in the same boat. Don’t let other people discourage you. Good luck with admissions!
@idkName Thank you for the kind statement
