So I was accepted into Cal State Long Beach and accepted my admission months ago. On my to-do list, was to send my scores to the university by July 15 (today) and finish some forms for financial aid by July 13, which I did on time. As for the SAT scores, I had thought I sent them a month ago, and again about two weeks ago, but on my portal it had still said it was missing. I sent them again yesterday (July 14), and it looks like it went through, but scores seem to take 1-2 weeks to process and get to the schools. In an email, it says “if we do not receive your transcripts and documents by July 15, you will not be able to enroll for the Fall 2016 semester.” When I sent them yesterday, I thought I could rush ship it, so it’d get there faster, but that is no longer available apparently. I messed up really bad. This was the last thing I had to do, and I should have gone down to school to verify my scores were sent. Opinions? Do you think they’ll accept my scores even if they won’t get there for another week or two, even though I sent them before the deadline?
Call the admissions office at the school. Ask for a manager if you get a student. Talk to a real live person. I don’t know if they’ll give you some leeway but that’s all you can do at this point.
Call and ask. Is there a real person’s name or ‘if you have any questions’ address listed in the email you got? If so, use that contact.
I haven’t been able to get a hold of the actual person who can give me an answer as to whether or not I can get an extension. So I’m waiting for a call as I left a message, but later today I’ll be going to the school in person to get clarification and an answer.
Good plan. You might want to consider emailing as well. Put your application ID number on the email so they can easily access your records (have it with you when you go in person too).
I am trying to figure out the issue. Didn’t you submit official SAT test scores when you applied for admission, in which case the college already has your official score report? I mean I know your final transcript was due by July 15 but I was not aware you had to resend your SAT scores.
How did you apply and get accepted w/o scores?? Are you a transfer student? IF so, are SAT scores really needed?
If you’re an incoming frosh, then doesn’t the school already have your SAT scores?
Do the UCs allow self declared scores (like their self declared grades) with an official report afterward?
OP is at Cal State but like UCs they require that SAT scores be sent no later than December directly from the test agency. Re-reading the original post, the email that OP quoted said
That implies that it is the OP’s final grades transcripts and possibly financial aid info that are missing, not SAT scores.
@Erin’s Dad: UC’s allow you to self-report your grades and test scores on the application. You need to send official test scores before the December deadline for application review. Final transcripts are not required until July 15th and sent only the school that you will be attending.
Cal state Long Beach would have not accepted OP if test scores were not submitted but OP may have reported both SAT and ACT test scores on the application but only sent one or the other and CSULB is asking for both reports to match up the application information?
My younger son actually reported both SAT and ACT test scores on his CSU application but only sent the official ACT scores since they would be superscored. Upon acceptance, he was required to also send the SAT score report even though he was admitted based on the ACT scores.
Good to know. Thanks @Gumbymom. Hopefully that helps the OP understand the situation and what is missing.
Turns out, my SAT scores were always there in the system for months (probably when I sent them after taking the SAT). So everything is set. Whew lol. I should have made sure earlier anyway to save all the stress.
Thanks for the comments, suggestions, and opinions.
Good to hear! I completely understand the panic though. Sounds like the email they sent was a very vaguely worded form letter. Have a blast at CSULB.
