Hey guys. I missed the fall 2016 deadline because I thought I wouldn’t be going to UT Austin because it is too close to home ( I live like 15 minutes away lol) However now I am reconsidering UT because I feel I can get over the proximity and focus on school. I am an auto-admit (top 5% of my class) so getting in is no issue. However I was accepted to A&M for fall 2016 and am still waiting to here from NYU ( first choice but most expensive). Is it worth waiting a semester to go to UT in Spring 2017 rather than going to A&M or NYU in the fall and not having to wait? Btw I plan on majoring in Economics or Psychology
Yes, in my opinion, it would definitely be worth sitting out fall semester if UT is your top choice. Assuming that they still let you use your auto admission if you apply late. I assume you’ve already asked admissions about that?
Yes the auto admit still applies for the Spring semester. I wouldn’t say UT is my top choice, I’m considering both A&M and UT equally and was wondering if UT would be better for economics or Psych even if I have to wait and additional semester for it as opposed to A&M
I think you should attend the school that you like best. If it’s A&M, go there in the fall and don’t worry about rankings. If you think UT is a better fit, wait to apply for next spring. Use the time between graduation and college wisely (work, save, volunteer - something that will help you explain the gap semester). If you decline your A&M admission now, can you reapply later if you change your mind?
@FloMoMom I don’t really like one over the other I guess my real question is which college is better for majoring in Economics or Psychology.? UT VS A&M
I think it would be worth it if that is the college you prefer But you probably don’t have to wait a full semester. While you are applying you can sign up to take classes as an unenrolled student. Generally most colleges allow that. Of course if you do that make sure you do well in each of the classes as doing poorly will reflect negatively on your application.
@amy989 Ok thanks, I wouldn’t mind taking a semester off completely I just want to make sure that I pick the best school between UT and A&M for Psych or Eco. Any current students have any suggestions?
