I know it’s pretty late to be contemplating on what I should do next in my life, but I’ve come to a point where my stupid mistakes are needed of advice. My top 10% standing allowed me to get accepted into the 3 colleges I applied to which are UT, TAMU, and UH. UH was my least preferable destination because I wanted to leave Houston and have the college experience, but now UH is my only option unless I take semester off. TAMU was the college I ultimately decided to go to for Engineering, however, family issues prevented me from accepting my admission. UT is my dream school, but going undecided was going to be a big risk so I decided not to go. So should I go to UH for 1 year and try to transfer to either UT or TAMU or take a Fall semester off with my top 10% standing intact in order to attend UT or TAMU for the Spring semester. (Although I
previously wanted to major in Electrical Engineering, I’m now thinking about majoring in Economics.)
I don’t know how this works. Will UT and TAMU still allow you to attend in the spring? Did you decline them? If you go to either, will you have to stay in engineering? Are the family issues fixed or likely to arise again?
The family issues are fixed. I was told that I could wait and reapply for UT and TAMU with automatic admission for Spring 2018. This also allows me to apply to a new major.
You have not provided enough information. You need to be top 7% to be auto admit at UT. You need top 10% to be auto admit at A&M. You are not a auto admit for engineering at either school. You did not say if you were admitted to A&M’s engineering dept. If you were I would check with the school to see if you will be admitted during the spring. If the answer is yes I would go to community college for a semester and transfer in the spring. If the answer is no I would go to UofH with the plan of transferring next year. .
