Hi... i'm having a bit of a dilemma here.... I just took the SAT for the first time last Saturday, and am planning on retaking it next October. However, I also wanted to take some subject tests (in case I decide to apply to schools that require them), but the next date I can take them is November 1st (because i'll be taking the SAT in October....) Will the subject test scores make it to the colleges I apply to on time for deadlines (which I presume are the beginning of January-ish?) Have I missed out? :(

The College Board is very quick with its grading of the SAT (Reasoning and Subject Tests). If you're applying Regular Decision, your scores from November should make it.

Whew.... thanks for the good news! :)

I'm still a bit worried about it though.... I mean, doing it out in my head....
Scores released around November 20th, 3-4 weeks to reach the college, 1 week to process at the college. o_o

That's cutting at really close for a January 1st deadline....

no, if you look, most colleges accept scores from tests administered the DAY OF their application deadline. for example, if your thinking of applying early decision or action, then your application is probably due Nov 1, but the colleges will accept SUBJECT TEST scores from the test admistered on Nov. 1

however, get your regular SAT score solid, and then worry about subjec tests. although, for the december or january deadline, you have plenty of time. no worries!!!

^^^^ but then again, dont take my word for it, b/c i dont want to be the factor that makes you late...haha. go ask your guidance counselor!!! "exploit your resources" is what i always say! haha.

You don't need to ask your guidance counselor. All you need to do is look at the websites for the colleges to which you wish to apply. They all spell out their requirements in detail. They will all say something like: "Scores from the November test date will be considered" or "Dec: Last SAT I and SAT II testing date." Look for the Application Timeline.

Schools are not trying to trick you. They make their requirements clear. And if in doubt after reading the website, call the Admissions Office. They'll tell you.
