I'm new here. if this info has posted before, please forgive me.My daughter (11 grader) missed her PSAT test last Oct, due to illness(possible H1N1). what can we do now? Any info? Thanks

I don’t really think you can do anything: the PSAT is only offered once a year, and if you don’t take it junior year you can’t get the National Merit Scholarship. However, if she’s a good candidate, it’s likely she’s a candidate for a lot of other scholarships.

Go to the National Merit website. You can contact them, but I have no clue what they will do.

I think you might have had a chance if you contacted someone back in October - I can’t imagine they will do anything at this point. But what nemom said - call national merit - or go to collegeboard site and call them.

http://www.nationalmerit.org/student_guide.pdf

You might have already seen this (it’s linked on the front page of their website), but on page five they say:

“If you do not take the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT because of illness, an emergency, or other extenuating circumstance, you may still be able to enter NMSC’s 2011 competitions. To request information about alternate testing after the October 2009 PSAT/NMSQT administration, write to NMSC as soon as possible but no later than March 1, 2010. Do not delay; the earlier you write, the more options you will have for scheduling test dates.”

And then they give a mailing address. So it sounds like your daughter still has a chance.

thank you all for the reply. I 'll contact them.
