So I missed the CSS profile deadline but will still apply for the FAFSA. When do NYU release aid for accepted ED II students? And even though I won’t be getting any CSS aid, is there any way I can say that this aid isn’t significant for my circumstances and pull out of ED II?
From your previous post, your mother alone makes $600,000 income per year!! There is no way you would have received financial aid even if you had filed the CSS Profile. So, no, you cannot get out of ED II at NYU. You, your parents and your high school counselor signed an ED contract when you applied and you are ethically obligated to attend if admitted since you can definitely afford NYU.
Looking at your past posts, did you miss the deadline on purpose to get an excuse to get out of NYU ED2? I mean, you can’t just say you can’t afford it and walk away. You would have to show that you can’t afford it. Not sure why you applied ED2 if you want to back out so much now. FA comes out as soon as decisions do.
I too am skeptical that you missed the deadline on purpose. You’re on a slippery slope right now. If you back out of ED on purpose and matriculate to a school that doesn’t offer you financial aid that is similarly priced, NYU has the right to call the other school and force them to terminate your acceptance. You already made a decision; don’t screw up your future.
I didn’t fill out a css profile since I know that I won’t be getting any aid… @dreambig2018 a lot of that is in bonus, not necessarily all guaranteed from year to year so on CSS and such I would fill out lower than that. Either way, there isn’t much I can do about that now since its too late to file a CSS profile. I don’t know…I guess there isn’t anything I can do except hope NYU rejects me or gives me a deferral or LSP…which is unlikely since I got a housing change.
Is there anything I can do at all to pull out after getting accepted? You can call me an idiot for getting in ED all you want, but hindsight is 20/20 and at the time when I applied ED, I thought I accounted for all circumstances and would be 100% okay no matter what happened.
No. You are able to afford the school without any aid and decisions are already completed. It’s too late.
@adreamer22 That isn’t necessarily true. I have two little brothers who will be going to college too, they won’t be attending college at the same time nor will I be attending college as the same time as them, so paying full tuition plus maybe private school for the 3 of us is still a heavy burden. I know that without the CSS profile they won’t be providing me any aid, so then is there no way I can say that I didn’t receive enough aid and pull out of the ED agreement?
LOL about aid! No, sorry but it is not credible that you could not afford NYU if your mother makes 600K. They count assets too. The expectation is that she could mortgage the house if need be. Also they count savings, investments, property holdings, summer homes, etc. Why not call NYU and pull your application if you don’t want to go? These tactics are just dishonest.
@lostaccount Honest or not is questionable. I can’t pull my application out. They made their decision already and there is nothing I can do about it.
@barcodeIlIl It is not honest; don’t be delusional. Also since you’re the first sibling, you cannot talk about the future. It’s your younger siblings’ responsibility to seek aid, not yours, since you can’t take the future into account. Also, if your family makes $600k/yr, they’ll easily afford 3 children going to college at the same time for 4 years. If you continue with this you’re going to get kicked out of every school you applied to for dishonesty. If you really love UMich so much then transfer after freshman year.
@adreamer22 We aren’t going to go to college at the same time. so its pretty much 12 years of college.
Yeah, I don’t want to get kicked out of any any school, which is why I didn’t send any more emails or calls after the intial call and email. Like I said, I realized there is nothing I can do now, so I’ll just see what happens on Monday.
@barcodeIlIl You can only get aid if you’re going to college at the same time, so throw that idea out. Also you won’t be able to back out of the agreement if you’re accepted. Just transfer if you really don’t like it at NYU.
