Missed the financial deadline-Should I give up?

There was a combination of me not realizing the deadline for FAFSA's and financial papers were due so soon, as well as there being no way my parents could get them done by Feb. 1st anyways (I moved this summer, my dad lost his job, my mom had to live in another state for a couple months all factored into getting the information needed for the paperwork nigh impossible). I cannot go, assuming I'm accepted, if I don't get a good financial aid package. Since it's already Feb. 3rd, should I just focus on other colleges that have a later date? Or is there something I can do?

Call them and explain your situation. They may still be able to accept your information as long as you get it to them quickly.

^I agree. Call them. Many colleges are lenient on the FA deadlines.

Chimichonga: Still apply. Don’t give up! I had the same concern. I realized the day before that I had to send out my materials to UChicago so I emailed the Office of College Aid and he said that (1) the Feb. 1st is a “soft” date meaning they’re not being strict with the date; they’re being flexible and (2) that if you send it in late (even with a legit reason), your financial aid package could potentially be delayed for a few days.

So don’t give up. You worked too hard to just give up right now. It’s not over till the fat lady sings and she’s not singing yet! =]
