Missed the interview

<p>We have a home phone that we never answer/use and it turns out we had a message on there from a penn alum requesting an interview. obviously, we didn’t hear it until later. how bad is it that i didn’t take the interview? i was on retreat all week but my mom called him back to apologize. i’m planning on calling him later today to apologize and he said he’d answer any questions i had. i know you’re only supposed to deny an interview if you don’t want to go there at all, and i’m still interested. i feel like an idiot. how will this negatively affect my app?</p>

<p>How can it negatively affect your app if you have a life, were busy at a retreat, and took your first opportunity to return his call? Sounds fine to me.</p>

<p>In fact, rather than waste his time apologizing for what requires no apology, I'd take on a bright, enthusiastic tone that says how delighted you were to hear from him, how you called back immediately upon hearing of the message.</p>
