Missing Previous High School's Transcript

Hey guys, I usually don’t post, but I’m kind of freaking out. Backstory is that I transferred schools after the first semester of freshman year, so I should have a transcript for freshman year first semester at my previous school. I, along with my current counselor, stupidly thought that the report card the school faxed to us was the transcript, but apparently it does not state the number of credits received. I had asked her previously about it, and she seemed sure that this was what should be sent to the colleges, so I didn’t question it anymore. (I’m actually not entirely sure if she sent these grades; maybe she only sent the transcript of my current high school)

Yesterday the school got a phone call that this wasn’t the right transcript and that I received zero credits for that semester. We have called my previous high school, but they have not sent anything yet. I’m freaking out because I sent some applications in october and most of them over a month ago. Even though the colleges said my application was complete, I’m missing my first semester freshman grades. Will this impact my chances of being accepted? I’m going to be seriously depressed if this misunderstanding is one of the reasons why I was not accepted. Should I email each college and explain what happened? Or what’s the best thing to do besides send the correct transcript?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Go do something fun today to take your mind off this. Your counselor should be able to sort it out. It is her job to do that, not yours. Hang tight until Monday, and go see her again then.

Thanks for the reply! I actually had my Cornell interview today and it went great  Does anyone think I should email the schools and tell them what happened?

I want to leave it alone, but my mom is pushing me to get it fixed immediately. Also, my counselor is very relaxed about the situation and isn’t the best (last year, she mixed up the transcripts for three people with the same last name, costing them some acceptances).

Leave this alone for now. A guidance counselor is the one who should take charge of this. If you (or your mom) think that your counselor is unreliable, or might not know how to handle your particular situation, find out which counselor at your school would have the expertise needed. Many students have messy transcripts because they have changed schools, and the schools that students transfer into have the prerogative of awarding credits for not-quite-finished classes as they see fit. It is not likely that you are the only student at your high school who has had a problem like this.
