How destroyed am I if i messed up how much time I spent on an activity in my common app and put like 2 hrs/week on something I actually spent like 6hr/week on. I low balled it big time because the meetings were 2 hrs a week but preparing them, gaining members, setting up contests took a lot of time too
Im an idiot for just realizing it now
One, it’s too late to do anything about this. Two, this is very minor. It is not worth being worried about and it isnot worth emailing a rep about at this stage. A few hours isn’t going to make a difference between acceptance and denial.
even if it was for like 30 weeks?
It is likely too late, but if it really bothers you, correct it.
For each school, determine the name of your admissions rep and send a short, professional email:
Dear Make-sure-you-spell-their-name-right
I just noticed a mistake on my activity list that significantly understates my commitment to XYZ Club. I noted the two hours of meeting time per week but forgot to count the time I spent doing this, that, and the other. I would like to update my application to show 6 hours per week spent on this club for 30 weeks per year.
Thank you

Something to think about if you decide to contact an AO: you underestimated 120 hours of extra time commitment. That’s possibly significant, depending on a variety of factors. An AO might be forgiving of such a mistake soon after submission, but this late in the game, it might bring negative speculation. “How did this student fail to list something quite important? Why would this student remember to think of such a significant error now? Did this student actually do this many hours, or is the student acting in desperation at this point?”
I have no idea about any of this of course. But I have to think that this activity can’t have been that important. If it isn’t that important, I personally would not send an email about it. And if it is that important, it seems odd that you didn’t think to correctly list the hours more accurately on the app. Just playing devil’s advocate. The situation would be different if you were notifying an AO of something such as an award or other new achievement not listed on your original app.
You’re right its not worth it
