Mistake with ivy leauge schools and duke

I sent my common app essays off to Brown, Duke, AND Columbia yesterday. I left the crazy mistake of saying "Those two factors have lead me to selecting Brown as the University to help prepare me to become a Dentist." I was wondering if I should let it be or try to get in touch with the admissions officers and send it by mail? Or should I just leave it?

If it hasn’t been downloaded by colleges, you could ask the common app help desk and see if they could delete the columbia and duke applications and have you resend a corrected one.

They can’t. I don’t know what to do. :(

The cat is out of the bag. It isn’t something you can fix by calling further attention to it. You should leave well enough along and not do anything at this point.

Rest assured many successful applications have problems, typos, and mistakes far worse than yours. If you want some real comfort about this, search “clam fart” for a thread about a successful ivy applicant who (gasp) listed that as an activity several years back.

This happens numerous times every year. Last year a student left “Wellesley” unchanged in her essay for Bryn Mawr and was admitted to Bryn Mawr. A current Williams student was admitted despite having tailored her application to Amherst including a special LOR about Amherst. She was admitted to Williams and chose to attend. You are not the first or last to do this and colleges understand that you are applying to multiple schools. If I were your reader I would care more that you capitalized dentist…

Lol maybe it’s a stylistic choice and Dentist is a godly profession.

lonlon97, just chillax. It’s out of your hands now. If you complain to the schools, it’ll just annoying them.

Well thanks! I feel a lot better. :)…trying not to worry about capitalizing dentist because I did it in all of my essays…
