I wish I had stayed in California and gone to a high school that was actually challenging. The one I’m at rn is super easy. As a result, I got bored and stopped trying freshman/sophomore year and didn’t take AP or honors classes because I lost interest in school. There’s kids at my school with 4.0 GPA’s and 23 ACTs…

Know what I’m sayin’? Lol

I wish I had taken more challenging courses and joined more sports teams/clubs.

I know this isn’t high school, but the biggest mistake I’ve probably made was not taking the SHSAT. I most likely would have been in Tech or Bronx Science right now.

- Not preparing earlier/more intensely for science and math competitions (especially the olympiads). They definitely require a couple years of preparation for most people.
- On a related note, not focusing on being really good at one thing - I'm only partly through the college application process, and I've actually had good results so far, but I've found it's nice to be able to say you had a bunch of awards, or a state-level medal, or some national performance in one area/competition. That could be science fairs, MUN, music, essay competitions, rubik's cube solving, but showing a real commitment to one thing is helpful.
- Also caring what other people think. Come junior year, you see that the roles reverse a little bit, and it doesn't matter if you were a "cool" freshman lol
