ack, I already emailed my EC to set up an interview date. He lives like 10 minutes away from me.

Does the 17% acceptance rate for girls really mean anything special for me?

^ To your first point, I don’t think it matters. You will just get it out of the way so I guess that is a good thing

…ehz - Uh, what do you mean?

Even if your EC information does change, it’s okay to have contacted or to have had an interview with the EC who was originally listed.

It means that the women who apply to MIT are exceptionally qualified.

I currently hail from Orange County, California, although I’ve also lived in Michigan for a year and my permanent residence is in Singapore. :p

BTW, how is everyone able to access the online application? I haven’t had any luck… :(

^ It isn’t up yet.

It might sound ridiculous, but I know both of the ECs of our country. Can I politely ask them to change my current EC, and replace by another? :-s (basically because the seniors said that he was really awesome, and he takes interview near my house)

@mathmad:
If you believe your relationship with the interviewer may cause a conflict of interest, then you should contact the admin office to change interviewer.

Oh ****.

My EC is my friend’s dad. I never even knew he went to MIT. This could be interesting.

My son contacted his EC to set up an interview, but unfortunately the EC prefers to wait until late Sept/ early Oct. It would have been nice to cross this off the list before the craziness of senior year begins. Oh well, I am sure it will all work out for the best.

what kind of questions are asked by the EC ?

^I’ll be addressing that in an interview thread soon, but for now suffice to say that the ECs ask a huge variety of questions so preparation isn’t all that helpful [and can in fact have a negative effect.]
One question you’ll definitely see though is: “Why MIT?”

^ Will there be a new interview thread for 2010? I’ve looked through last year’s and it’s getting really long and hectic.

jimmy says maybe in a weak or so.

@resilient
Yes, and as the above poster said, in about a week. I’m just waiting on a reply from a mod.

^ Have you already had your interview?

^I haven’t yet; I’m a rising senior, and much like many of the students on this board, I’m trying to get informed on the admissions process. I’ll be sure to update my post when I do meet for the interview, but for now my intention is to round up interview information gathered from this board and some other sources into one place.

How many people have already submitted their Part 1? (hint: me!) :p

Me too, haha. I’ve actually finished 4/5 essays too! :D
