Can you get into MIT with Three B’s on your transcript? These were final grades.
It’s very possible. They will review your application in it’s entirety and there are a lot of other factors. .
Extracurriculars and your personal mission I’m guessing?
Yes.
They will also look at the grades and what classes they were in. Your LORs, class rank and standardized test scores will be factored in.
You have posted this exact same question for more than one college and the answer will be the same for all. Almost every college reviews applications holistically. Your GPA/course rigor is a very important factor as is standardized testing. But other aspects of your application such as your essays, LORs, EC activities etc. will also factor into the decision. So yes, it is possible but work towards making every single aspect of your application as strong as possible.
And as I tell everyone, it is critically important to apply to a range of reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (run net price calculator) and that you could be happy at.
I understand that I have posted the “exact same question for more than one college”. I was trying to see if there were any difference between two colleges with low acceptance rates (one ivy and the other not and ivy).
@CollegeFretter:
Colleges with low acceptance rates will look at your grades and SAT/ACT scores, (yes they’re important), and then they’ll move onto the more important part of your application - e.g. everything else.
Many applicants with three B’s do get accepted to MIT. And many with straight A’s and awesome SAT/ACT scores also get rejected.
The only ones who can answer your “Three B’s” question will be the adcoms only at the moment they’re discussing your application. Those adcoms at any other time, or anyone else attempting to answer it will be like throwing darts at a dart board.
three B’s will not deter you from getting accepted to MIT if you have other strengths. They are not looking for straight A’s and perfect standardized test scores. I attended their info session recently.
@eastcoastrower Can you please share about MIT info session you attended?
