I just have a question about the MIT application – it asks “What field of study appeals to you the most right now?” and “Tell us more about why this field of study at MIT appeals to you” [100 words]. There’s only space for one field of study – if I am interested in pursuing a double major/have two interests does it make sense to mention both, or should I just talk about my primary interest? Also, should I mention clubs/research interests at MIT specifically, or just talk about the field of study? Thanks!
MIT adcoms know what their clubs and research opportunities are like. You only have 100 words to make the case for what YOU are interested in, not what they can provide you…
If you are interested in two areas then so state. But you would need to be concise as 100 words isn’t that many.
MIT is trying to figure out what makes you tick.
Try to explain in 100 words why you are interested/excited by those two fields. They are trying to get to know you better. It’s not a test to see that you did your research into MIT.
