@notapsycopath I think I read somewhere that if you got deferred from early that means you meet the school’s criteria academically, they just want to see more of you as a person and how you would compare to the regular bunch.
@Anonymous261 in reference to what u said, that the people who got deferred meet the school’s criteria
My ACT composite:30
SAT Math 2:800
SAT Chemistry:720
TOEFL: 95
I am an US Citizen but been staying in India.
and I got deferred by these stats. There might be something else.
@“Sheel Patel” I am sure your essays were good! Stats aren’t everything!
Where are you from?
@notapsycopath where are you from?
I’m from Singapore @QueenZi
@“Sheel Patel”
Good luck. Your American citizenship will help you considerably.
Certainly I guess, even when considering applicants to for the international quota…they look to regional diversity like others?
Or is MIT any different than others in this aspect?
Btw, I am living in the Gulf…so any other positives or negatives?
I’m also an international student and was deferred from early action. Really nervous as the acceptance rate is soo low for us, let’s just hope for the best!
While common sense says they do value regional diversity, nobody can say for sure. However, I think a disadvantage some students will face is affirmative action. I doubt its impact is very large, but it may indicate that some regions more preferable than others. I suggest you don’t worry about these factors. Speculation won’t get us anywhere.
People here took the regular SAT/ACT, while I just took the TOEFL test. Hopefully it won’t bring any disadvantage for me.
@ByteZz Thanks man. Really want to attend this fantastic school.
@hooman123456 hey, i went through the common data set of MIT. they do require SAT/ACT scores, also Sat subject test score.

@“Sheel Patel”
A lot of us do for sure! I’m also an American in India. I hope that I get in. Of course, it’s impossible to say anything with certainty.
@hooman123456
Hey. don’t worry about not taking the SAT I! I know a few international MIT students that got accepted without sending an SAT I score. (SAT subject tests are mandatory btw)
Where are you from? And best of luck! (as long as you are not from Israel
@hooman123456 (just kidding! Best of luck either way!)
@QueenZi I’m from Indonesia, and I took the SAT subject tests only I don’t think MIT really puts a lot of importance on the SAT or TOEFL score that much. They really consider one’s personal qualities. They even say (8,10) is better than (10,8) [quantitative,qualitative]
I agree that personal qualities is more important. My friend’s sister is a junior at MIT. She got a 2010 on her SAT and a 560 on Chemistry SAT 2. But she’s an amazing and caring person.
MIT Decisions are released on Pi Day at 06:28 PM EST, am I right?
