MIT Class of 2021 Applicants

@sakibdurlob personally i was born tragically w/o the ability to chill

@mjrube94 thanks! we take our work seriously but not ourselves, and Being Human in a phenomenologically inhumane process feels like the right thing to do, i think.

I can’t wait for decisions to come back. I already have my discussion post ready - it’s practically an entire essay lmao

Applying to MIT has exposed me to some of the coolest people I’ve ever met, both in real life (through touring the institute) and through GroupMe. This has been an incredible experience, regardless of the decision that comes back in a few days :slight_smile:

@MITChris Do you people at Admissions party after an admissions cycle concludes?

@intellectboy

I’m sure they do, haha. We always complain about the process being stressful and frustrating for us. However, because the process keeps us self-absorbed, we often forget how difficult all of this must be for the people at the other end. It must be a taxing job. Therefore, admissions folks definitely deserve a party. Heck, they deserve more than a single party.

Theres a nerf war going on at my school and If I got a tube, I’d be willing to take bullets to get it.

@lp3575 waIT THERE IS HAHSHD I’M STUPID

mit please accept me i can totally math my original derivation was correct

i got confused because this was last month in ap physics oops and also my textbook uses charge density so when i looked it up to confirm afterwards i was confused

yikes

what is physics

guess i’m going to take an L on pi day :^)

@nw2this if u live near mit and they want to save on postage they can just roll it to ur house like the chef boyardee commercial

@LookAtThisNet but they should get Ironheart to deliver it because otherwise that’s just false advertising smh

@scarletwitchx sis we all takin Ls on 3.14 day

@scarletwitchx

Am I detecting an inner desire to sue?

@ByteZz I just really want to meet Ironheart because she is amazing on so many levels.

My kid wants to know - Does that machine in the video that shows the 3D image of Ironheart’s suit really exist? .

@nw2this the machine exists, but it’s not actually a hologram projector; it’s a robot-control arm, iirc, w/o the arm attached.

@MITChris how long before notification are decisions made? I’m curious in general, but also I sent an update last week and may have another, but it’s 4 days away so…

@swimmertris I’m not MITChris, but for most colleges a vast majority of decisions are made as early as 3 weeks before the decision date. Sending un update now most likely won’t be looked at/have any effect on your application. You can if you want, though, of course.

@VenomBuds Thanks! I guess I might as well send it anyway, it’ll make me feel more productive even if

Decisions come out on 3/14 at 6:28pm. Obviously the date is Pi day. Not sure if it’s been discussed here before, but does anyone have an explanation for the time? I can think of two reasonable alternatives. Before I say what they are, I’d like to hear other thoughts. I suppose they could have released results at 1:59, but they didn’t go that route.

@ByteZz. It sounds like you’re just suggesting it’s 2*Pi in a fancier way. That’s one of my thoughts, but I have another.
