Okay, thanks, i’ll look at those!
I’ve got my interview on Monday- any tips?
Bring your resume (some interviewers will take it, but some will not), be yourself. Good luck!
@musicalmatrices There are a lot of blog articles on the MIT admissions website with interview tips. Also, are you applying EA or RD? Just wondering if I should be contacting my EC now as an RD applicant, or if it’s okay to wait one or two more weeks.
@Ballerina016 thank you for the tips!
@y90y90 I will be sure to check those out. And I am applying for EA. The choice is up to you, but I’d probably get it out of the way when I could.
If I say on my application that I founded a business, does it have to registered? A couple friends and I run a tutoring business. We offer private and group tutoring sessions, work with other local organizations to offer summer camps, and travel to local schools for tutoring. However, we aren’t really that “official”. That is, we don’t have a website/email and we’re not registered/licensed etc. We made up a nice name for the business, but you wouldn’t find it if you tried to look us up.
If we’re submitting community college transcripts (not via Parchment or any other service, but directly through the community college), can they be digital or do they have to be hard copies?
@random91123 you can mention that un your essays and talk about that with your EC, and no, it does not have to be registered
@scarletwitchx I had 3 community college/college transcripts sent for my kid. I suppose they will take either paper or digital, though they may not show up on the portal. The portal seems to be set up to show whether the high school transcript has been received, but doesn’t have a space for dual enrollment transcripts.
I sent one digitally through Parchment and the other 2 could only be sent as paper.
Hey guys! Hope y’all are getting real well on your apps. I’m applying EA, so got work to do soon! Anyway, as I said earlier, I’ve made a website selling cookies and brownies. I was told to tell MIT about it by Slideroom. I was wondering how I include a link to the website in the add media section. Thanks for the help guys!
Viel Glück!!!

Does anyone know how long it takes the EC office to respond to a request for a new EC? I emailed them yesterday (admittedly quite late, but my EC had emailed me back at one point and had led me to believe that he would be contacting me later, but he never did so and didn’t respond to any of my subsequent emails), and the deadline for EA applicants to schedule interviews is coming up very soon.
@scarletwitchx Did you email the regional Chair? The one in my region responded to my D very quickly.
Just submitted my early app!
Finally submitted!! 57 days left!
Question (Sorry if this has already been asked!): So one of my activity descriptions is 37 words, but the system still says that it exceeds the word limit. I viewed the application PDF but all the words fit perfectly, and the font size is actually larger than my other descriptions (all exactly 40 words). Is this a glitch, or should I cut down on my word count even more? (I’ve noticed that it saves without error for 35 words.) It’s just difficult trying to convey what I mean with a stricter word limit.
Have your English teacher or someone ne whose writing you respect edit it. Don’t let anyone rewrite, just let them show where you could cut a few words.msometimes using an active verb rather than passive can save 2 words.
I’ve cut it down to 35 words but I still feel as if my description would better convey my thoughts if I was allowed 40 words, since that’s the word limit the application gives. Do you think it’s possible that I could submit a description using this higher word limit, even if it displays an error when I try to save? @bookworm @MITChris
@lp3575 – Have you tried taking it all out, logging out and then going back in and trying again with the reduced word count?? It may be worth a try.
@CA1543 I just tried that but unfortunately it still compiles an error.
@basquiat Have they announced when EA decisions will come out? Just wondering if that’s what you meant by “57 days!”
