My mom is guessing the 13th because it’s a tuesday just like last year
@tauisgood sorry dude, I rarely check cc! yeah, my 57 days was a countdown to December 20th. 24 days left!!
My guess for the release date is December 14th at 6:20. MIT tends to have release dates with interesting number patterns. My date would make 12/14/16 18:20.
In previous years they’ve done 12/13/14 15:16 as well as Pi, 2Pi (March 14th at 6:28 pm.) Anybody else have ideas?
6:28 – Tau time
I think you are right on the money @sumptuous! I think they released on a Wednesday last year too which probably makes it even more likely to be the date.
Anyone applying to Colorado School of Mines from here?
@sumptuous I think you’re right.
My guess is tau time, not sure about the date though.
Wow… decisions are coming back in around two weeks…
So stressful for you guys but best of luck.
Hello everyone. I am new to this thread and will be applying RD to MIT. Do you have any tips for the interview?
Also, best of luck to all of you who applied EA.
I can’t get my mind off this…
@lhw1998 Same! Also is a 1490 enough to have a shot at MIT? I only took the SAT once and received a 790 M and 700 EBRW. I am nervous about my reading and writing score…
@KG5APR I know nothing about how admissions works but a 1490 is a great score. I’m not sure but I think it will qualify you to be considered as a serious applicant
@KG5APR 1490 is a pretty good score. Also, MIT seems to focus more on your math score and less on the reading/writing score, so 700 EBRW should be enough. Actually, I got 1490 as well (800 M & 690 EBRW).
Everyone let’s relax and ignore MIT until the decisions are out. Use this time to chill or work on other apps. Try not to obsess (I know it’s hard, but let’s try). Ideally you’ll all wake up one day and realize “Oh… MIT decisions are out today… cool.” and not “MIT DECISIONS COME OUT IN 12 DAYS 5 HOURS 12 MINUTES AND 36 SECONDS FROM RIGHT NOW!!!”
@Helium9 When you go to your interview, don’t say things you think your interviewer wants to hear just because it’ll sound impressive. Say things you genuinely enjoy talking about and your interview will become naturally impressive.
Also, if you’re a maker of some sort, bring something small that you’ve made which if representative of your creative side. They want to see that you’re a human being with genuine hobbies, and this is a good way to show it. I brought a little 3D model I made of Squidward Tentacles with my 3D pen.
Prepare some questions beforehand as well. My interview was basically 30 minutes of my EC asking about me, how I spend my free time (the general tip I found was to list your top 3 extracurriculars), and why I want to go to MIT, and then 15 minutes of him asking me if I had any questions about MIT.
A good way to end on a good note is to bring along a thank you card, or to mail them one if their address is listed for you. The only information I was given in my EC profile was an email address, so I opted to bring a thank you card along with me and hand it to my EC at the end of my interview.
Good luck! I’m sure it’ll go great.
@itssonotjacky Thanks for the tips! The good thing is that this will be my second interview, and I am prepared for the more generic questions about myself.
The part about bringing your own creation is great!
@johnwayne8321 quite precise.
For those who applied EA, bear in mind that there are three possible outcomes; accepted, rejected and deferred. When my son applied four years ago, I was not prepared for deferred. It all worked out though and he is a happy senior. Good luck to all.
