MIT Class of 2023 Discussion/Decisions

You’ll get an email anyway, so there’s no point checking before then

@redcloud17 Unless of course you want to record your reaction…

I mean an email saying that decisions have been posted. The email won’t actually say the decision. Most colleges use portals now, to lower the chance that someone will be unprepared to see the decision. @LincolnsGF Also, it’s a different site (not the checklist portal), so…

There no advantage for applying early to MIT to say the least. Just that more athletic recruits are taken in there, which they arent for RD rounds, and many are deferred whose adm. chances drop (than the avg. RD apps). I explained why before.

I have another unrelated question.

If anyone can provide insights, it’ll be great.

My HS counselor claimed in december to the full class that she can ‘see all our admissions decisions’ before us (before we open our portal). THis got all of us freaked out, first due to wondering how, and second due to the mere thought of it. While ik that Colleges contact counselors for additional data and that might mean something, or sometimes counselor get official mails from colleges that may mean something, but I doubt they convey the full decision beforehand to the counselor ? Isnt that a breach of policy/possibly illegal for most/all schools?

The only instance i understand this may be remotely happening is in case there is someone the HS counselor personally knows sm1 who has ties with the adcom/finaidcom

Thanks.

Have admission checklists been removed from student portals?

^ Yes.

I’ve gone on record before saying that I don’t believe this. There may be instances, which you gave some examples, of when a GC may know slightly earlier about an applicant or 2.

Regardless, for him/her to say something like that, even if true, is beyond unprofessional. S/he can’t say anything about decisions in advance to a kid without jeopardizing his/her reputation (such that it is, I’d argue) or, more importantly, that of the HS.

I agree, but i hope this isnt true.

Thanks for your insights.

What where your STATs?

I laughed at what MIT wrote MIT we admit people, not numbers, With that in mind, here are some numbers about the people we admit. I am almost certain that numbers goes before people for MIT… I think we need to change this mentality … My son has 1% of getting accepted… but I asked him to apply anyway, he has all what they need for “being an amazing students” but numbers not so high … not bad either… but I know he will be rejected because of the numbers

@nonomom my son has the numbers, and he also has about a 1% chance of being accepted. We are in the same boat… good luck anyway!!

All the best boys and girls!

My daughter was accepted after deferral so there is hope. PI Day is one of the happiest days of my life, and my daughter is a happy 2021 at MIT. Good luck, all!

good luck everyone!!

Let’s get this bread

Good Luck everyone for tomorrow… and it is Pi day too

My friend and I are planning to bake pie tomorrow night for our math club meeting on Friday. We will cry together over sugar, butter, and flour. :-S

Good Luck tonight everyone!!!

Good Luck Everyone. Embrace the decision no matter what. Believe what you want and let not results define your destiny.

It’s been a great journey of 4 years, and the hardwork put in by everyone guarantees another great, if not greater, 4 years.
