MIT Class of 2023 Discussion/Decisions

https://www.media.mit.edu/posts/admissions-timeline/

I don’t know how trustworthy this site is… But it says the decision’s coming out March 1st… America explain.

@jiwonie11 I believe this is for a particular MIT graduate school program, Media Arts & Sciences.

Whoops hope MIT doesn’t see this mistake

This is when they released last years decisions. “Earlier this month, MIT formally announced its regular action admissions decisions for the Class of 2022. Decisions were released, as previously announced, through MIT’s Decisions website starting at Tau Time on Pi Day (in non-geek speak, that meant 6:28 p.m. on March 14th).”

There are more than one way for MIT to slice a pie.

You realize that an MIT AO is a frequent contributor to this site, right?

I doubt they put a lot of weight on applicants’ posts in a College Confidential thread. They might notice how often you contribute or if you’re clearing following the conversation, but I’m pretty sure that all College Confidential and questions on other sites barely factor in.

I’m 100% certain that any user’s posts on CC has zero impact on the admissions (assuming the user does not say anything exceptionally disparaging or post racist memes or the like).

Expect decisions on March 14 at 6:28 PM MIT time.

D’s friend just received an email with notification of acceptance! Seems really early, right?! Anyone else??

@rfm512 from MIT? Really? This soon? Does MIT do early notification kind of likely letters? I’m surprised

I’m sure @MITChris will correct me if I’m wrong, but the speculations about “I heard…” “someone told me…” etc brings to mind a quote from SpongeBob, “Why, once I met this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy who knew this guy’s cousin…”

Or, from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off;: “My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”

Just because you heard something does not make it true. Since MIT does not send Likely Letters or have rolling admissions, I’m filing this one in the urban legend pile.

Yeah,… I’m hesitant to believe that too…

Apparently it’s right! I saw a copy of the letter…

Maybe they started doing Likely Letters this year, as that does seem to be a trend.
Is it a Likely Letter, or official notification of Admission?

Also, not a “likely” letter I don’t think. It says congratulations and goes on to refer to campus preview weekend in April, decision timetable, etc. Signed by director of admissions.

Maybe recruited athlete ?

@rfm512 is ur D’s friend into any sports etc. First time I am hearing of likely letters this late. I have heard in the past some likely letters to the Olympiad gold winners etc the top of the top but thats usually much earlier like even before the application opens up.

Nope… none of the above. Letter did refer to a design he submitted with the application. Wild, right?

I didn’t realize today is April 1.
