Mit Ea

I'm am very interested in MIT and I will apply EA. I'm wondering: what type of applicant do you have to be to get in EA?

a qualified, lucky applicant.

The answer to any question about MIT admissions:

a) Very good stats (you know the drill...high gpa, good sats, etc)
b) took advantage of what your high school had to offer (in terms of classes)
and c - the most important thing of all...show passion and dedication to something (anything) and possibly more than one thing

MIT only offers 5 slots for ECs on purpose - they want a passion and commitment, not a bunch of padder ecs.

You have to be the same type of applicant to get in EA as to get in RD -- there's really not much of a statistical advantage to applying EA, as EA admits are capped at 30% of the class.

What's the difference between those who are accepted EA dn those who are deferred and then accepted RD?

Pretty much nothing.
