Does anyone know last years stats concerning ea? Like how many applied, percentage accepted, deferred, and rejected?

i'm wondering that as well...

same.........

since everyone seems to be wondering.. so am I... hmm I'm applying for RD though...

36% were accepted EA last year i believe

Wow, 36%? That gives me some hope! :-)

Good luck everyone. Decisions in around 3 weeks.

2965 people applied early last year, of which 377 were accepted early. 12.7%

A remaining 2370 were deferred to the regular action round, where 295 were accepted, with no consideration as to their early applicant status.

If you are looking at the total percentage of EA applicants admitted ever (early or during regular), the number you get is 22%. Seeing as being an EA student doesn't give you an edge in the regular action round, I would be inclined to chalk this up to the more competitive applicant pool.

All in all, the 12.7% is consistent with MIT's overall acceptance rate of 13.3%.

All of these statistics, and more, can be found here.

If you made a wiser choice selecting your spin we definitely could fit you in!

Seriously though, good luck.

er this is the caltech forum, not mit :-p

Sunnuva! I have like 4 windows open and I guess I lose track. ><.

My greatest apologies.

so 36 higher than regular rate?

The number of applicants last year for EA was up 36% from the year before (i.e. 444 applied EA from the class of 2005 and 605 from the class of 2006.) 133 were admitted last year, so the admissions rate was actually 22%. Keep in mind that a lot of the non-accepted EA applicants are deferred to the regular round and are eventually still accepted. The total number of accepted EA applicants from both rounds is probably pretty high, but this may be because the average EA applicant is stronger than the average RD applicant, not because applying early gives you any real advantage.

Good luck, guys. Try not to worry too much over something that you can't change now. :)

(All numbers in this post were blatantly ripped-off from this thread.)

Thanks UndulyLlamarific for the thread and info. I had seen the 35% stat in U.S. News and felt it wasn't right.

Crap....guess i shouldve done Stanford SCEA
X-(

hmm yeah this year the number will probably have increased because of the higher usnews rating
