MIT Financial Aid Award Email(Bug?)

So as you all likely know, MIT’s requires that financial aid documents be turned in by February 15th and their website said that award amounts will be available in mid-March.

My IDOC documents were processed on Feb 3rd, and I just received an email today saying:

“We have reviewed your application for financial aid for the 2017-2018 academic year. Your award is now ready to be viewed on MyMIT.”

This confused me for a few reasons.

  1. The processing time was considerably faster than what I’ve heard of regarding any other college
  2. The fact that their website says it will be available in mid-March
  3. My MyMIT portal does not actually show my award amount (But it did update such that it now asks me to complete the “MIT Student Information Review Form” in order for my award to be finalized.

Does anyone have any info about this? Is this just a bug?

I called in the financial aid office and they told me that it can take up to 24 hours for the change to be processed onto MyMIT but… that still leaves me confused haha.

Two weeks ago, they called everyone that was admitted early and said that the deadline for applying for financial aid was Feb. 15th but students would be notified of awards on a rolling basis.

Oh okay, I hadn’t heard about that. Does that apply to deferred students too? @theRealMesutOzil

(sorry for the late response), I’m not 100% sure, but judging from the wording of the message, it probably applies to those accepted, deferred, and those who applied RD
